Safety Tips

Last updated: August 23, 2026

CoralPaths helps people discover and connect with others for friendship, shared interests, activities, community and, for adults, dating or romantic connections. Your safety matters whenever you communicate online or decide to meet someone in person.

Important: CoralPaths does not conduct background checks on every user and cannot guarantee a person's identity, intentions or conduct. Verification indicators are helpful signals, but they are not guarantees of safety. Use your own judgment and take reasonable precautions.
Meeting in Public Places

For your first meetings, choose a busy, well-lit public place where other people and staff are nearby. Avoid meeting for the first time at your home, the other person's home or an isolated location.

Tell Someone Your Plans

Tell a trusted friend or family member who you are meeting, where you are going and when you expect to return. Share the person's CoralPaths profile and your meeting location.

Arrange Your Own Transportation

Stay in control of how you arrive and leave. Use your own vehicle, public transportation or a trusted transport service. Avoid depending on someone you have just met for transportation.

Protect Personal Information

Do not share sensitive information until you have established genuine trust. Information shared online may be copied, recorded or distributed without your permission.

Trust Your Instincts

If someone makes you feel pressured, frightened, confused or uncomfortable, stop communicating or leave. You do not owe anyone continued conversation, a meeting or an explanation.

Warning signs may include inconsistent stories, aggressive behaviour, attempts to isolate you, pressure to keep secrets, unwanted sexual comments or repeated disregard for your boundaries.

Respect, Consent and Personal Boundaries

Treat every person with respect. Consent must be freely given, informed, specific and ongoing. It may be withdrawn at any time. Silence, previous consent, flirting or agreeing to meet does not mean consent to sexual activity or any other physical contact.

Alcohol, Drugs and Impairment

Alcohol and drugs can affect awareness and decision-making. Know your limits and never leave a drink unattended. Do not accept an opened drink or substance from someone you do not trust.

Online Communication Safety

Take time to get to know someone through CoralPaths before moving conversations to another service. People may misrepresent their identity, age, location or intentions.

Safety for Users Aged 16 or 17

Dating and romantic features on CoralPaths are only for users aged 18 or older. Users aged 16 or 17 must not attempt to access those features or arrange romantic or sexual meetings through CoralPaths.

Reporting Inappropriate Behaviour

Report users who engage in harassment, threats, hate, stalking, impersonation, fraud, sexual misconduct, exploitation, unwanted explicit content or other violations of CoralPaths' rules.

Reports are reviewed under CoralPaths' policies, but submitting a report does not guarantee a particular outcome. CoralPaths is not an emergency service.

Blocking and Muting Users

You may block a user when you no longer want them to contact or interact with you. You do not need to warn them or explain why.

Blocking limits interactions through CoralPaths, but it cannot prevent someone from contacting you through another service or account. Review the privacy and blocking controls on your other communication platforms as well.

Scams and Fraud Prevention

Never send money, cryptocurrency, gift cards, banking details or financial account access to someone you have only met online. Do not receive or transfer money on another person's behalf.

Common warning signs include someone who:

If you suspect fraud, stop communicating, do not send anything further, block and report the account, and contact your bank or payment provider immediately if you transferred money.

Account and Device Security

Protect your CoralPaths account and the device you use to access it.

Emergency Situations

CoralPaths is not an emergency service and reports may not be reviewed immediately. If you or another person is in immediate danger, move to a safe location and contact local emergency services now.

Safety for Group Meetups

Organisers and participants should choose appropriate public venues, communicate clear expectations and respect each person's ability to leave or decline an activity.
